There are a total of 154 Menehune Shores condominiums in this six-story building situated on almost 4 acres. Menehune Shores condos in stacks 9 through 19 have the best ocean views as the building is shaped like a horseshoe and these units are located at the bend.
The landscaping is well kept with a variety of palm trees and blooming Hawaiian flowers. The common amenities shared at Menehune Shores include a solar-heated swimming pool, barbecue area, shuffleboard, and sunbathing deck. The Menehune Shores condos do not have air-conditioning.
On the first floor is Shangri-La by the Sea, the best authentic East Indian food on the island. There is a cocktail lounge as well which overlooks the pool area and lagoon. The Menehune Shores condominium development was completed in 1976.
It hugs a soft sandy beach and overlooks an offshore reef, protecting a 16th-century Alii (Royal) Fish Pond of Kalepolepo. This lagoon is the launching location for the outrigger canoes heading out into the Alalakeiki Channel, or Maalaea Bay. The lagoon is a safe place for children to swim and snorkel without the threat of breaking waves. Snorkeling, spearfishing, scuba diving, and windsurfing are popular among the locals in this area.

The law allows just one (1) home exemption; if a husband and wife live apart and own separate homes, they shall be entitled to one exemption, to be apportioned between each of their homes in proportion to the value.
In order to qualify for a home exemption, you must own and occupy the property as your principal residence with the intent to reside there a minimum of 270 days in a calendar year.
The home exemption is deducted from the assessed value and the homeowner is taxed on the balance. Current home exemption of $200,000 applies to all homeowners regardless of age.
